Who we are
The Electrician London Ltd is an NICEIC Approved electrical contractor working out of Wallington, on the border between London and Surrey. We are a small, family run business, and the 134 reviews on our Checkatrade profile go back to May 2010.
There are over 20 years in the trade behind that, most of it on domestic work in south London: rewires, fuse boards, the extra socket that turns into three, and the sort of fault finding other people had given up on. Shops, offices and rented property came later, largely because customers who had used us at home started asking about their premises.
Being a small team rather than a firm with a diary and a dispatcher has an obvious limit: we can only take on so much at once, and we will say so rather than book you in and let you down. What it buys you is that the people who turn up at your door are the two below, nothing is subcontracted, and the standard does not change depending on who was available that week.

What we are here to do
Most people ringing an electrician are not enjoying themselves. Something has failed, or a survey has flagged a problem, or a sale is being held up. The job is to make that go away without adding to it.
Do the work properly, certify it, and leave the property the way we found it. Charge a fair price for the job that is actually needed rather than the job that is easiest to sell. Be reachable afterwards on the same number.
Hawthorn Road, Wallington, SM6 0SX. It is a working base rather than a shop, so please ring rather than calling in. From here, Sutton, Carshalton, Croydon, Mitcham, Epsom and Banstead are on the doorstep, and we work right across London and Surrey.
How we work
Most of what customers mention in reviews is not the wiring. It is whether the day went the way it was supposed to.
We look at the job before putting anything in writing, we tell you about a problem the day we find it rather than at the end, and we clear up.
Swapping parts until something works is faster on the first visit and more expensive by the third. We would rather spend an hour finding the damaged cable under the bathroom floor than replace an RCD that was never faulty.
A single socket, a light that will not stay on and an extractor fan are all worth doing properly. They are how most long-standing customers first got in touch.
Where we draw the line
Every trade has a few practices that make customers wary. These are the ones we get asked about, and where we stand on them.
A plastic consumer unit in sound condition is a C3 improvement recommendation, not a failure, and we will code it that way even though coding it C2 would sell more boards.
If the problem is a failed appliance rather than the installation, we will tell you that, not find you a circuit to replace.
High voltage, lift engineering and specialist industrial control are outside what we do. We will say so and point you somewhere sensible.
Credentials
Installation work is carried out to BS 7671, the national wiring standard. What sits behind that is a set of qualifications and a registration that is checked by somebody other than us.
The wiring regulations change, and requalifying each time they do is not optional as far as we are concerned. An out-of-date electrician is a liability to everyone, including themselves.
I have now used this company for three jobs, most recently installing a new power supply for a kitchen fan and replacing a faulty plug socket. Every time they have been excellent, with good communication, and they always arrive on time. Highly recommended.
Covering London and Surrey, on site as quickly as we can. You will speak to an electrician, not a call centre.
